An Invitation to Slow Down

This summer, we’re trading busy schedules for ocean air, cozy corners, and a house full of book girlies who love a good story and a good laugh. Our Newport Beach retreat is all about relaxed mornings, meaningful connection, and plenty of time to read, unwind, and make new friends.

Please note: the itinerary is thoughtfully curated but may shift slightly to allow for flexibility, weather, or spontaneous moments that make the weekend even better.

Bunk Room

Designed for late-night chats and instant friendships. With a mix of double and single beds, this cozy bunk room is perfect for book girlies who love a shared space, easy laughs, and falling asleep surrounded by good energy.

Guest Bedroom 1

Perfect for besties or new book besties. This shared queen bedroom offers a cozy, comfortable setup ideal for late-night chats, quiet reading, and a good night’s sleep.

For book girlies who love a little extra personality. This shared queen bedroom brings color, comfort, and cozy vibes, making it a great fit for besties or new retreat friends.

Retreat Investment

Cost Per Person

Your retreat investment includes:

  • Accommodations for the full weekend
  • All curated activities and crafts
  • Swag bags and special bookish touches
  • All meals and drinks throughout the weekend (with the exception of one meal out at Lido Village)


From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, everything is thoughtfully planned so you can relax, show up, and enjoy the experience without worrying about the details.

How Booking Works

To ensure the best possible group experience, this retreat is application-based.


Once applications are reviewed:

  • Approved attendees will receive a confirmation email
  • Payment details will be shared directly at that time
  • Your spot is secured once payment is completed

Payment Options

We offer two payment options so you can choose what works best for you:


Option 1: Stripe

Pay via a secure Stripe link using your preferred payment method.

Payment plans will be available through Stripe, but processing fees will apply.


Option 2: Zelle or Venmo

Pay directly via Zelle or Venmo to avoid all processing fees.

This option requires payment in full at the time of booking.

Room assignments are based on availability at the time of approval and payment.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Because this retreat requires advance planning, bookings, and commitments, all payments are non-refundable once submitted.


If you’re unable to attend after booking:

  • Your spot may be transferred to another approved attendee if you’re able to find a replacement and notify us in advance.
  • We’ll always do our best to help facilitate a transfer, but cannot guarantee a replacement.


In the unlikely event that Not Your Average Book Club must cancel the retreat, all payments made will be fully refunded.


By submitting payment, you acknowledge and agree to this refund and cancellation policy.


We understand that life happens, and while we can’t offer refunds, we promise to approach every situation with care and clear communication.

Not at all. Many attendees come solo, and this retreat is designed to make it easy to connect and feel comfortable from the start.

You’ll submit an application, and once reviewed, approved attendees will receive a confirmation email with next steps and payment details. No payment is required until you’ve been approved.

Rooms are assigned based on availability at the time of approval and payment. You’ll have the chance to indicate your room preference during the application process.

Yes. Payment plans are available through Stripe and may include processing fees. If you prefer to avoid fees, you can pay in full via Zelle or Venmo.

All payments are non-refundable. However, you may transfer your spot to another approved attendee with advance notice.

The weekend is thoughtfully planned, but intentionally relaxed. There’s plenty of time built in to read, rest, explore, and connect without feeling overscheduled.
